Dissolution of the Twin Cities KTC

Since we began in 2020, Twin Cities KTC has struggled to find an effective means of growing our Sangha beyond its original founding membership. We have pursued a variety of strategies without success. Twin Cities KTC has offered meditation opportunities to the community, but this has not resulted in an interest in joining the sangha. Twin Cities KTC conducts almost all of its activities in concert with Hay River KTC. Twin Cities KTC has not met regularly in a physical location for many months.

During Khenpo Urgyen’s recent visit in August, the Board of Directors met with him and Khenpo Sangye to discuss the best way forward. Although our parent organization, KTD, would ideally like to see both Hay River and Twin Cities continue, Hay River has been prioritized as the best option in which to focus our efforts. Pujas and other practice events take place at the Center.

There are plans to bring a new lama to Hay River who will ultimately replace Lama Yeshe when he retires. In light of these plans, the desire to maintain a physical presence at the Hay River center, and the lack of community interest in TCKTC, the Board felt it was appropriate to focus membership and activities around Hay River.

Yours in the Dharma,
Twin Cities KTC Board of Directors
