Twin Cities KTC AND Hay river KTC Buddhist Meditation Centers

Tonglen is a Mahayana practice that helps us develop love and compassion for all beings.  Compassion is the wish that all sentient beings are free from suffering and the causes of suffering.  Love is the wish that all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness.  If we are honest with ourselves, we can see how these motivate  our lives as we seek happiness  and try to avoid suffering.   Doing this practice helps us to see what we all have in common.  No one wants to suffer or be unhappy.   Tonglen can also show  how difficult it can be to extend these sentiments to others, especially those  we don’t particularly care for.   By repeating this practice we have the opportunity to develop genuine love and compassion for all beings.  Reducing negative feelings toward ourselves and others allows for  a more relaxed and positive life.

Lama Yeshe gave this teaching over two weekends.  He is a monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and the resident teacher at the Hay River KTC Buddhist Meditation Center near Ridgeland, WI.  For additional information view the website at ktcHayRiver.org.
