Twin Cities KTC AND Hay river KTC Buddhist Meditation Centers

As you may know, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche died early yesterday morning at Karme Ling. The instruction from KTD is to do guru yoga, mixing your mind with his.

Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche

Below is the Guru Yoga prayer we do when we chant Chenrezig and Amitabha, and a link to instructions from Lama Kathy on how to do guru yoga in general. Lama Tsultrim Yeshe said, “It is fine to not use the prayer or any other guru yoga prayer, and follow Lama Kathy’s instructions without a prayer.  The important point is to not waste this important time by doing nothing.”

Guru yoga instructions from Lama Kathy

Below are additional instructions from Lama Yeshe on how to use this particular guru yoga prayer at this very important time.

“The 1st two lines are going for refuge from the suffering of samsara. The 2nd two lines are engendering the attitude to do what is necessary to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Visualize Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche in his human form instead of Karmapa in the form of Vajradhara. Don’t be concerned that the chanted description does not match your visualization. On the 1st phrase on the 6th line we request he grant enlightenment and other signs of accomplishment. On the 1st phrase on the 7th line we request he grants us the accomplishment of the 4 karmas. Some of the the other lines state that he is the embodiment of the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, the Yidam, the Protectors and Vajradhara. On the 8th line we request he transfer ‘the enlightened intent’ of his mind and that he grant the accomplishment of Buddhahood in this life time. Do Karmapa Khyenno repetition, as many malas as you want. Then the four empowerments are done before chanting the next phrase. Chant the next line and the guru dissolves into light and the light into you. Rest for a moment as described in the last paragraph of the instructions. Dedicate the merit by chanting the last phrase.”

May all beings benefit!
